Speculations about FTX former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried buying Twitter stock

While the US stock market is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Tesla CEO and Twitter executive Elon Musk claimed that Sam Bankman-Friede, the former CEO of bankrupt crypto exchange FTX, did not own shares of Twitter.

Earlier, rumors were flying in the market that Musk had received $100 million from the former FTX CEO. Semafor stated that SBF owned a $100 million stake in the social media platform. The article claimed that they had correspondence between Musk and Bankman-Fried as proof of the deal.

Yesterday, Musk tweeted, "As I said, neither I nor Twitter have taken any investment from SBF/FTX. Your article is a lie." The editor of the SBF-backed publication posted a text message on Twitter purporting to be Bankman-Fried buying more than $100 million worth of Twitter stock, which he would like to roll over if possible.

Musk used a standard phrase "welcome" in cases he responded to all Twitter shareholders It is obvious that this text message did not confirm whether a deal had been struck. However, a reporter at Semafor took the text message as confirmation that Bankman-Fried definitely owned a $100 million stake in Twitter and acquired it right after Musk had purchased the social media company in late October and took it private. Musk previously stated that all public shareholders of the social network were allowed to invest in Twitter stock as a private company. However, the Tesla CEO added that Bankman-Fried had not purchased shares of the social network. Therefore, he did not have a stake in Twitter.

The article also claimed that Musk wrote a text message to Bankman-Fried and offered him to buy $100 million worth of stock. According to the text message, Bankman-Fried sent it to Musk. However, the Tesla CEO did not even know who the text message was from.

Many Twitter users agreed with Musk that the text message did not prove that Bankman-Fried had invested any stock in Twitter. It seems that the billionaire did not know who he was talking to and was giving the same response as all other major shareholders. This situation did not affect Twitter's stock price, though it was planned that this news would lead to heated arguments, after which Musk could be accused of fraudster affiliation.

As to the technical picture of S&P500, yesterday was a holiday, and nothing changed in the market. The main target of buyers now is to defend the support of $4,000. While trade will be conducted above this level, further demand for risky assets is likely. This will create opportunities for strengthening of the trading instrument and return the level of $4,038 under control. The level of $4,064 is slightly above. Its breakout will most likely lead to a further upward correction to the resistance of $4,091. The most distant target is the area of $4,116. In case of a downtrend, buyers just have to be active near $4,000 as this is a psychologically important level. A breakout of this range will quickly push the trading instrument to $3,968, and also gives a chance to update the support at $3,942.
